Established in 1851 possibly as an ironmongers first the business adapted into a locksmith over the years. McLarens was a family run business and throughout the 160 years the first name changed depending on the ancestor who owned it right up until it’s name today of Duncan McLarens.
“We had some very ancient locked cabinets where keys had been lost over time by previous employee’s who had subsequent retired. As a new employee I was tasked with arranging access to these cabinets without any form of destruction.
Having found McLaren’s the problem was solved within a day by providing suitable replacement keys. I found the staff most helpful and friendly even although the job was not much in terms of total cost.
All in all if you require a professional locksmith to have a job done, do not miss these guy’s who are as helpful today as my first encounter 30 plus years ago.”Mr A. Houstin
“The locks on the front door of our New Town flat were not working properly; the door had warped and the locks were sticking. Duncan McLaren did an excellent job for us, overhauling the locks, replacing worn parts and realigning the units where necessary.
It’s a joy to have the locks working smoothly again. Many thanks, Duncan McLaren Locksmiths!”Gillian
“I called McLaren’s out to fit a lock on a door in my flat. Cannot praise them highly enough. They arrived 15 minutes early and had the lock fitted in under 10 minutes and supplied two keys. Moreover, their price was cheaper than all the other Locksmiths, even the ones on Gumtree.
My grandfather would have been proud of me – we lived just around the corner from McLaren’s and our family always used them for keys ever since the 1940’s!”Alan Hunter
